Technical Investigation Conclusions (BEA Report)
The safety investigation was conducted by the Malian commission, with technical assistance from the BEA. The final report describes a chain of technical and operational events without determining fault or liability.
- The engine anti-icing systems were not activated.
- The engine Pt2 pressure sensors were probably obstructed by ice crystals, producing erroneous EPR values.
- The autothrottle limited thrust and the aircraft speed decreased until the stall.
- The crew did not respond appropriately to the speed decrease and warnings, then did not apply the actions needed to recover from the stall.
Available data: the FDR was usable. The damaged CVR contained no usable data.
