Safety investigation and established facts

The investigation was conducted by the Malian commission, with technical assistance from the BEA. Its 169-page final report was published on April 22, 2016.

The flight took off from Ouagadougou at 01:15 UTC.
The wreckage was located on July 24, 2014, about 80 km southeast of Gossi.
The engine Pt2 pressure sensors were probably obstructed by ice crystals, producing erroneous EPR values and autothrottle thrust limitation.
Speed decreased until the stall. The crew did not apply the actions needed to recover from the stall.
The FDR was usable. The damaged CVR contained no usable data.

The safety investigation is not intended to determine fault or liability. The allegations considered during Swiftair's criminal trial belong to separate proceedings, and no decision has yet been delivered.
